You could try aircraft mechs who work with vintage planes, hopefully for a substitute.

Most of the Austers have a Gypsy Major engine, this one us unusual because it has the Cirrus engine and hence has more difficulty in acquiring parts.

My friend's family have a number of vintage aircraft (including another Auster with a Gypsy Major donk) and know most of the usual suspects, but are still havng difficulty acquiring the plugs. Hence their contact to me on the "also used in Land Rover radio vehicles" rumour.
