    OK that sort of fits with what I read, I can imagine a scenario where you have an engine with good compressions but reluctant to start, big cables and a nice AGM battery. That could let some of the precious smoke out of the starter?

    FWIW When I replaced all the earth and main cables in my Isuzu 110 (incl. the starter one) I got a HUGE difference in the performance of the starter.

    I highly recommend doing this. It isn't expensive, even with good quality cable and well worth it IMO.

    Well, we all know that Landrover starters are not wimpy. Isuzu?
