It can if the old one wasn't allowing the system to build up pressure. Why have you replaced the cap?

Not real reason just thought I should at 200000 km. Where would one get it pressure tested ?
Any decent workshop can do it, or a radiator repair shop.
There is a slight chance the new cap is causing the system to over pressurise which is causing your new leaks so it would pay to eliminate that first.
Stick your old cap on for the time being if there was nothing obvious wrong with it.

Adding something new to an old system can often find problems. Same as putting oat in to a leak free system of green coolant, = ala leaks
Old cap back on. Will wait and see. Considering flushing out thea red oat and putting glycol like our other td5 which appears to never leak.
Hi BigO, how did the replacement of the old cap go? Have you found a solution to the leak problem? I have been losing a small amount of coolant each time I drive my TD5 130 and today I could hear a slight hissing from the pressure cap on the reservoir, so I am interested in your latest experience. A new cap, or at least a new seal, might be in order but not if it means starting leaks elsewhere. Cheers, 130man.
