    power window problem - D2

Hi - I'm familiar with the existing power window posts and I've already made up a regulator slider to replace the roller that travels the farthest in the guide. However, this didn't solve the problem as I still have a clicking noise at the bottom of the window travel and then it takes a number of goes to get the window to come back up. I assume this is a regulator rather than motor problem - something broken where the regulator goes into the motor (yes, I'm being lazy and not wanting to pull everything apart until I have a new part to immediately replace as can't have the car off the road)?

Through Karcraft there's a huge price diff in genuine vs aftermarket for regulators: $187 vs $54 - and reputable mob like Karcraft unlikely to supply something that's dodge, but anyone have any experience with the aftermarket one, or should I just get a genuine second hand one?

Hi My drivers door suffered the same symptoms and then let go all togeather. The spot welds that hold the regulator togeather broke.

I removed it and rewelded the spotwelds, this lasted for another 12 months before dying again. I replaced it with an aftermarket one and have had no probs since. The cheaper option was no differant to the origional I checked very carfully before installing it.

Got mine from British Spares in Tassie, air freight arrived within 24 hours and was still considerably cheaper than genuine. For the price I would be able to replace 2 non genuine ones and still be cheaper than 1 genuine one.

Also it would be worth checking that nothing has come loose or out of alignment, resulting in excessive travel allowing the gears on the regulator to become unmeshed this happened to me when I installed the repaired one and missed doing a couple of the bolts up properly!
