    300 tdi timing belt

Has any one tightened a timing belt on a 300 tdi without using a dial type torque wrench?

    Cheers

I`ve always done mine with a decent normal kingkrome click type torque wrench, never had a problem over the last three 300tdi belts I have done. I do have a warren and brown dial type torque wrench but it doesnt go low enough for the 300tdi timing belt

    try this

Use spring scales from the kitchen on a measured length of a lever.

Failing that measure the lever out horizontal and weigh some water into containers until the weight is right, hang them at the nominated distance from the pivot point.

Yes, you an easily use a deflecting beam (click type) tension wrench.

You'll probably find 80% or more Tdi belts are done that way.

The Difflock.com instructions are on here somewhere (look in 'The Good Oil' forum) and they use a deflecting beam tension wrench.

I've done plenty of cam belts using the regular 'click' type wrench, without any problems.
