    3.9 custom temp gauge fitting

    Hello Everyone .

Has anyone fitted , or is it possible to fit a custom temp gauge into their 3.9 . Im wondering about the possibility of fitting a Murphy gauge into one of these motors . For anyone who doesnt know murphy gauges they have an adjustable sensor on the front of the dial which when the needle reaches that user preset temp will send voltage to a wired audible alarm . Used lots in marine engine fitments .
Where is a good take off point to screw into some water jacket ?
Not questioning dash fitting here only engine fitting .

A water temp sender should be fitted behind the thermostat, next to the existing sender. But on its own it's too little warning of impending doom, you need a low water alarm too, usually fitted to the radiator level plug I believe.

Easiest is the Engine watchdog and similar - you bolt the business end to the head.

ENGINE WATCHDOG TM2, Engine Overheating Alarm, Gauge & Sensor

Low water ( as mentioned ) is good in that it's an add on to the LR V8 and there is no cutting into piping. (Also avaliable in the forum 'shop' )

    Engine Saver Land Rover Page

Both would be excellent. But Alloy engines rely on coolant more than iron so low water alarm is probably the economical solution
