    Radius arm removal. Help!

Help! I am swapping the diffs out on my 90, the rear is out of the car but I can't get the bolts out of the bushes on the radius arms at the diff end.
The nuts came off without too much trouble. Is there some trick I am missing?

the bolts will have steps in them and the holes in the axle mounts will be elongated. you'll need some wigglomatic and application of the FBH, put the thing up on chassis stands to get most but not all of the weight off of the wheels (when chassis jacking you'll find a magic point at which the radius arm "floats" on its bushes thats the level you want to be at when you do your suspension works) put a nut on the bolt wiggle the armand hit the nut till the pin drifts out remove the nut and then unscrew the bolt...

    more or less.

The diff is sat on a pallet next to the car at the min so by the sounds of it some jiggling and heavy use of the persuasion mallet should do the trick.

If the BFH doesn't do the job, try a Bigger BFH

Normally I find that if you keep undoing the bolt the bolt will make its way out on its own. Easier to do with air tools . But if that does not work then I find a punch does it by tapping it through from the other side and bang them out.

I recently replaced all my bushes, the method of choice was, 1. put the nut back on a couple of turns. 2 hit the nut with a hammer until thread inside bush. 3 take nut back off. 4 once the thread is inside the bush the bold should wind out like undoing a nut by using a ratchet and socket.

Don't force it. Get a bigger hammer.

I have got one side off using the above method. No luck on the other side. Is it just a case of brute force? I doused it in wd40 so hopefully that, plus a bigger hammer will do the trick, unless anyone has any other suggestions?

I have used a G clamp and spacers like nuts or washers to configure and use as a press. This method is there for the places where you can't swing a FBH too well.

Gas axe, melt the bush, then belt it out, Regards Frank.
