Crikey - I don't even recognise half of those panels .

The tape rather than something like sikaflex is understandable as many of the panels are pop riveted together and there is some movement in panels, particularly as the pop rivets work loose over time. I have replaced a lot of loose or broken rivets.

Clark rubber has a range of rubber tape (deformable and non deformable) with sticky on either sides that will do the job.

I will probably order from the ebay supplier above, unless they can get it in without charging me an arm and a leg.
I found it very expensive. Does the tape include a Chinese fitter ? (or Spanish, we are now reaching a 23% of unemployment rate)

I'm using the "reject shop version" you can buy for two dollars in the Defender wings and seat base. It is narrower, but you can stick two lines of it.

On the other hand, I can understand that, making such a big job restoring the 101, you would be interested in using the "good stuff". Some photos, please.

My concern with a sikaflex type liquid sealant is that when the panels are riveted together they may displace the sikaflex enough to get to a metal on metal contact again. The tape avoids this as it wont displace when compressed.

Thats essentially it. The body will never be disassembled this far again so I want to make sure it goes back together right. In the scheme of things, after paint and prep it wont be that much either.

My only concern with going a cheapy brand (don't even know how Clark Rubber compares) is that the tape will degrade over time and fall out, which is why I'm happy to go a quality brand like 3M even if it does cost a bit more.

Thought I'd drag this back up again. My searching at clark rubber didn't bring anything up as my local store doesn't have much stock (understatement...). But while searching for more info about seam sealer's I stumbled across a nice way to apply the sealer's in a tube, simply mask off the edges, apply and roughly brush out the product.

This link shows the seam sealer being used in the traditional sense, but the application method looks sound, simply let dry before riveting panels together. I will be giving this a shot first up to see how it goes as the tubes are only $15.
