    occasional turbo timer

Hi all, got myself a 2001 td5 defender about a month back, It has had an aftermarket turbo timer fitted, and occasionally after turning the key off the engine remains running, as you would expect. But alot of the time when you turn the key off the engine stops. There is no control for the timer inside the vehicle, and I presume the timer is running off some sort of thermostatic sensor connected to the turbo itself.

Am I anywhere near the mark on this? or has my turbo timer crapped itself?...

Most of my daily driving is only around 15km one way to work in the morn and the same back home after I knock off, and longer trips usually finish up with the last 10km putting along in 50 and 60kmph zones, giving it plenty of cool down time.

Is there any other reasons why it would sometimes work and sometimes not?
Maybe something I'm doing wrong during shutdown, that's cancelling the timer?... Suggestions...

    Cheers, Mossyoak.

Take it off as I don't think you need one. Turbo timers are ok when engines are working at hight loads and are hot and you wish to turn it off. So instead of waiting for it to cool you just turn off the key and walk away. But in a vehicle if you have the option of idling back when you get near your home and letting the turbo wind down and cool, you are then doing what the turbo timer does. Not much use roaring into your shed then walking away leaving it running till it shuts itself down via the timer.
