    R380 Clutch Fork Squeak

The pivot on my clutch fork is squeaking/creaking (Defender 300Tdi 130 ). I've just replaced my slave cylinder because it was leaking, so I'm wondering if the leaking fluid has somehow cleaned off the grease that would have been there. Is there a trick to lubricating it without opening up the bell housing? I have enough experience removing the gearbox - I don't need any more practice . I guess it's only matter of time before the pivot wears through the fork anyway.

While we're on the subject, is the 130 clutch pedal supposed to have a spring on it? My 110 did, but I figure perhaps Land Rover decided that the 130's heavier clutch didn't need a return spring on the pedal.

    Thanks in advance ,
    James

Early 300Tdi/R380's didn't have the helper spring, late ones did.

As for the fork, how old is it ?
It could be letting you know it's about to punch through, although mine just went rock hard out of the blue, then when I pushed harder, it went to the floor as it punched totally through.

As for trying to get some lube in their without splitting the assembly, good luck

Thanks Rick . I don't know how old it is. I've had the vehicle for two and a half years and been restoring it nearly all of that. I've only just started driving it regularly in the last two months. I know the feeling of when the fork lets go. I replaced two on my 110 in about eight years. I did my own mod on the last one but I've seen them available like this now:

I might just have to keep a spare fork under the seat and put up with the noise .

    Thanks again,
    James.
