Hi,
Looking for a new gearlever knob for my 5 speed LT85 - thread stripped. Can't seem to find one, Paddocks, Rover Parts web sites anyway, but plenty of LT77 & R380 knobs for sale, are the threads the same on the gear lever shafts?
Couldn't care less about the markings, just bit tired of loose-ish knob that I have at the moment
Thanks
Clive
I've repaired them before. Open up the hole and fill with PlastiBond - a fibreglass-filled polyester patching compound. Screw in a Vaselined bolt of the same thread as the gear lever and let the material set. Unscrew bolt and fit knob to gearlever. You may need a locknut to lock the knob in position such that the gear positions are right way up.
I've turned up wooden gear knobs for cars and put the thread in the same way.

I got sick of them only lasting a few years on my Tdi so I spent some money on the alloy billet ones from CroyTec. Ron's method is the cheaper option though.

Hi
Thanks everyone think I'll try the Plastibond idea first, though those alloy ones are very nice, bit too good for my old truck really.
