96 disco 300tdi overheating
I live in the east kimberely (its hot) and experiencing overheating. I have recored the radiator, not sure if they replaced the cap and thermostat. It only seems to happen under load, ie with a/c going and sitting on 110kph. As soon as I slow down to 80 with a/c off it goes down immediately. A few years ago had the same thing and the heater core was replaced. Vehicle has done about 260,00km. Its so good otherwise. Any suggestions on improving the cooling on my disco?

before you go replacing stuff or modding, probably a good idea to find the cause....It could be your thermostat, it could be the viscus fan etc. What coolant do you run. Has the system been pressure flushed and recharged recently? do you have a bullbar with driving lights? Could it be the head gasket?
Tridon TT388-180 is a thermostat that should fit and cracks at 82c rather than 88c

hey mate I had the exact same problem with my 95 300tdi.
replaced the radiator with a new one and replaced the viscous unit with a new one as well as the thermostat. never had a problem. I live in the pilbra.
dont let people tell you bullbars and driving lights make a difference. I have a bullbar and three hella 2000 across the front of the car. never overheats now the cooling system is up to scratch. thats towing, low range, sand, mud etc all in 40 plus degree heat.
