Disco I Fix the Rust or replace body ($64?)

    Guys

Just bought a '93 V8 5dr (unreg), 1st 4wd for sons and I to go bush. Good mechanical, but rust replacement reqd in front floor (both sides). Main problem is in and above the roof gutter along both sides. Also has odd bits of rust elsewhere under rear body could be cut and patched
Would I end up with same sorts of problems with another body from around SEQld? only good bodies west of great divide?. Will a D2 body fit a D1 chassis? Any advice on fix rust or replace body would be welcomed. Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Dave

    body replacement

    Hi

ive not too long ago done a body replacement but i put a rangie body onto a diesel disco chassis and running gear. i also recently helped a mate put a new body onto his disco. quite an easy job if you have the use off a hoist.
Im not too sure if a disco 2 will fit. Im sure someone on here will know.
I suppose you have to weigh up what the best outcome would be and how bad the rust is. finding a donor body shouldnt be too hard as you have such a range too choose from as any range rover or disco up untill 98 will fit.
    Hope that helps.
If you want talk further about body swaps pm me your details.

    cheers jake.

...so would that mean a RR series I or II (series II from '94?) or Disco I both interchangable up to 98.

I had thought I needed like for like, I may come back to chat further depending on where we head wrt another body. Appreciate your help.

    Kind regards
    Dave

Any RRC up to 94/95 will fit and possibly D2 but if you plan on getting it registered you will run into problems, better off sticking to the same model disco 91 - 98.

    Hi dave

No the p38 body is completely different i think much wider. only the range rover classic shape would fit.

    body swap

Yes rego can be a bit tricky but it can be done. As long as it meets vehicle manufacturers specification which it will it is ok. At the worse you may have to fill out an application for vehicle modification form and get it engineered and that would be whether you put either body on as the vin numbers wont match.
