Does the noise disappear when you select 4th gear?
As that is when the mainshaft is direct coupled with the output shaft and reduces the load on the layshaft bearings.

My R380 is about to be pulled out and rebuilt to get rid of the potential of another apocalypse now, with choppers!

If it was the throwout bearing, I would expect it to make a noise when the clutch pedal is depressed. That is when it is doing the work.

In general,

Clutch pedal in and noise heard = throw out bearing

Clutch pedal out and noise heard = Gearbox input shaft bearing

Pressure plate springs are known to rattle on PUMA's.

Without hearing the noise, it may be worth considering.

“Throw-Out bearing” or “Thrust-Race” is standard terminology for this part across all of makes of vehicles.

yes guys it is when the clutch pedal is pushed in.
Do they fail un-expectidely or just get noisier. I have another 5K before the next scheduled service
