    Rear brakes? Front lock up

    Disco 1 tdi auto locks up the front wheels if you stamp on the pedal. Not on dry tarmac, but wet or gravel always. It seems there is no rear brake action! Can do it at 5 kph or 60kph

    Ive bled a tad from each rear and it will squirt out with someone on the pedal.

    Can it be a dodgy flex hose, or master cylinder?

    Anyone know how to test for correct rear brake action?

    Should i just bleed the whole system? Otherwise she pulls up well and the pedal feels fine.

    Sounds like its working normally to me.

    When traction levels are lowered the weight shifts less on to the front wheels when braking, so they lock up first. If you lock a front wheel not much exciting happens, but if you lock rear wheels with active front brakes there is a good chance that you might lose control and spin it.

    Had the rear brakes lock on a Mini in the wet many years ago. The car spun 360 into a roundabout, fortunately without contacting anything else. I hate to imagine the outcome of locking the rear brakes in a Disco.

    Isn't there a pressure limiting valve that limits rear brake lockup.

    Depends which model/year/make 90 to 98 ?From twin line /booster A right through to Single line 4 channe4l ABS .Give us a hint !

    I'm guessing a Disco1 upgrade by the picture and the info. 95 -98

    I just thought those ones proportioned in the master cylinder. The Disco2 also had EBD.

    Its a 1997 non abs model.
    Looks to have two lines from the master cylinder to the proportioning valve on the inner LHS guard.

    Perhaps im just being too hard on it!

    also tyres shocks etc.mine sits nose up and tends to slide around.when on rough roads it uneasy.

    my 93 v8 will lock up front and wonder around if hard braking.
    often scarey with the trailer---the trailer often out brakes so you feel like its being swung around by the tow bar.

    sometimes it just the rear brakes glaze up.
