Best wheel offset, tyre size, D2A.

Dont flame me!...I used search, and good oil, and most of the links arent working. I dont know why.

Im about to buy steel wheels for the D2A and camper, to run as big a tyre as I can, on a 2inch lifted D2A. Tyre will be an aggressive A/T. Wheels will be 16", either cynamic, or possibly zu alloys. I have an arb bar on the front, and will be replacing the plastic skirts with steel steps once the tyres are sorted. I also have some of those standard D2a black wheel flares.

I had thought the biggest you could go, without a serious door trim, is 32". But I am told 32.5 will actually fit. I am also thinking slight offset (out) to keep my turning circle. (for the record, im not averse to a slight trim, but I dont want to hack the door)

So, best tyre width/offset/tyre combo please.

    Edit:

Actually, using google I was able to track down some of the threads here:

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...r-gurus-2.html

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...el-offset.html

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...l-options.html

Still seems to be some inconsistency about whether 33" tyres might fit?

But appears the answer is Dynamic 16 x 8 with a +30mm offset, and running a 32-32.5" tye

I think your best is to run one of the factory wheels. The offset is a really good balance between turning circle and bodywork clearance.

265/75-16 seem to be pretty tight but they work. Fitment will als involve width as well as diameter.

Ours had 285/75 16's on the late 6 spoke 8" factory rims.

    It now has 265/75 r16s.

The 285/75's didn't really rub much (arb bar / sliders / 2" lift) but they did make the gearing a touch unhappy (manual v8)

They were also quite a narrow 285 which probably helped.

Consider if you ever want to fit chains too.

Id love to. Was original intent. Cant find an easy way to get alloys on the camper trailer though due mainly to the centre bore.
