			Which Head Gasket 300TDI
		
		
				
					
					
				
				
		
			
				
					Im about to buy a new turner head from the UK and need to know which head gasket i need to use as i dont have the head off as yet and am unsure as to what one i need 1,2,3 or no hole being the thickest with no hole maby best to run with it ?

					AFAIK there should be a bit of the gasket hanging out the side of the engine just above the the lift pump where you can see the holes.
Thankfully never had to do one on my 300tdi, but recall seeing the piccy in Rave.

					If you look at your existing head gasket, there will be a tab which sticks out from between the head & block (sorry, can't remember which side of the engine). It is only about an inch long but it will have the holes punched in it, so that it is clearly visible while fitted.

					Just been through this, on the drivers side of the motor, there is a tab of head gasket that stick out, IIRC it is between the 2 & 3 cylinder fuel injector lines. May be slightly further back. if it hasn't had a head gasket, technically head surfaced (don't quote me on this not 100%) there should be no holes.
