Well given all the expense of doing a rebuild I wanted to maximise its output. The easy solution was to go carbs and a dizzy and standard exhaust and this is still an option. At the other end, as it is a Thor engine was to go the Thor injection system - provides the best economy, produces higher torque lower down and higher torque overall but has slightly less power than GEMS at the top end.
When researching whether to go carbs, 4CUX, Gems or Thor I asked lot of people a lot of questions on a lot of forums on three continents and the consensus was that Thor would be the way to go and that MS could do it all at a reasonable cost. The reality was that development of MS for Thor had not been completed and that costs were very high. Despite all the rhetoric I still haven't come across anyone with a Thor with MS or any other aftermarket ECU. Without major cracking work the Bosch Motronic will not work out of its parent car so cannot be used.
Hence my further search for options. At this stage nothing ruled in or out.
