Melted high pressure fuel line on TD5 D2

    Hi All,

I've seen mention of these lines going down near the tank but on mine (see attached pics), it's gone up near the motor.

Is it not possible to simply replace the plastic plug fitting with another type of high pressure plug after cutting back the melted hose?

Or would I have to buy the entire length to the tank? I recall there was some sort of recall on these...

    Cheers, Pete'

Yep, i'm afriad you have to buy the whole thing as it is one whole rigid plastic casting so to speak i believe. There was a recall done on the fitting on the engine end (so the whole thing got replaced) as they popped off IIRC. As we were dealers we never bothered to do our car for some reason adn it popped off a few years ago, it's still held on buy a bit of tie wire LOL as it was a temp fix but it worked so good we didn't bother to replace it, you'll need a new one though.

Ok, so I saw another post on this where it said "P/N is YNI 500030 K and cost about $25"

But is the part no for the section I need or for the section from the fuel tank (which I don't need)....

AFAIK it is one compete line from tank to car, with the clips on the ends built into it, IIRC it is also rigid, but not sure, you need to replace it from tank to engine, thats why we haven't done it yet.

Oh should say, check with a reputable Landy mechanic, such as Graeme Cooper in St Peters or TR Spares in Padstow, not sure about where to ask on the Central Coast, but ring either of those places and you'll get the right answer, as to whether you have to replace the whole thing or not, i'm only going on what i've heard/can remember as it was a few years ago.

All 4x4 at Kotara near Newcastle dismantle heaps of D2's. I would be surprised if they couldn't, help.

I repaired a line near a Defender tank years ago with an 'olive crimp type fitting'and it is still fine after many years.

If you search the Forum you may find other ways of dealing with this problem

Replacing the whole line would be quite challenging
