If that's $360 for a 160ah or even a 130ah deep cycle from a retail store the price isn't to bad, online you will find them cheaper but as they are heavy shipping is a killer. Online you never really know what your going to get either.

I got to try it out on the weekend. Put an N70 in it and it worked a treat. Uses little power to come down. It just opens a solenoid to relieve the hydraulic pressure, and gravity does the rest.

The roof peak above my head is 7.9 metres. The platform that I am standing on goes to 7.3 metres so it is perfect.

    Dave.

Hi Dave and you have the perfect situation for a lithium battery.

While not cheap they are coming down in price.

They tolerate high current discharging and charging and you could use a 100Ah lithium battery and easily supply the current you need for a large number of operations before needing to recharge.

A 100Ah lithium is a lot lighter than a lead acid battery with a 100Ah lithium coming in at about the same weight as a 60Ah lead acid battery.

You will need a special charger for a lithium battery.

Hi Mr Whippy, and I was talking to a company I deal with who specialise in high current battery applications and they reckon you won’t do much better than the Trojan battery you have.
