Did this today, just using 6mm nylon airhose and schrader valve fittings as owner wanted simple instal, was a great result. Ride quality is excellent,in fact on my 'test' bumps, feels like a P38a at the rear now!!The owner tows a big boat periodically so wanted some suspension adjustability, without the bone jarring ride from big coils when not towing.
The only mods required to the D1 (Early 200 tdi 1993) were to drill the upper 2 holes in the spring perch for the airspring upper support, (9mm) and grind away some of the inner of the upper perch to allow the upper support to fit up inside enough for the 2 upper pins to protrude through.
With a moderate load in the back, 60psi sees a 50mm lift.
All up about 2 hours, will be quicker the next time.
Well worth it I reckon.

hi simon. fronts were not tackled for this job as it requires shock towers and lower mounts fabbed, bit beyond the needs for this fellows vehicle, too. something i can do easily though as i have a few sets of eas front turrets etc, and some bag assemblies kicking around too.
really impressed with the ride, despite having his original old monroe shocks it iis very smooth but not wallowy

Yes a full coil out, airspring in, conversion, the same applies to a 1995 model, too. Sorry no pics as I was pretty flat out doing the job. It is quite easy as even the lower mounting holes are there in the axle housing mounting plate, only need to mod the upper perch slightly. It helps that I have seen many hundreds of EAS RRC's over the years but if you get to look at one one day, you'll easily see the upper mounting differences.
6mm Nylon compressed air line and fittings are all available over the counter at any Pneumatics / hydraulics/ industrial suppliers.
As I said, well worth it
