    Heater Replacement on 89RRC

Guys, appreciate any tips or advice on pitfalls to expect when I replace my heater core on my late 1989 3.9 Vogue.
I've accumulated lots of bits to deal with other known gremlins along the way - including the new heater core and gasket, a new aircon thermostat, new fan motor and resistor rebuild kit, a new centre console and some 2nd hand air outlet vents with intact locating lugs! Couldn't source a new auto trans shifter bezel if anyone knows of a supplier.
Allowing the whole long weekend to do it.

    heater replacement

    Hi

ahh the old heater core replacement. bit of a pain of a job. nothing a few beers and a day wont knock over though. its a pretty straight forward job really just a matter of process and remember all the plastic is getting pretty old and can be quite brittle. be a careful with the pipes that go into the evaporator try to disturb them as little as possible so as not to create a ac gas leak. also its easier to cut a small hole in the bottom of the heater box assembly rather than take all the clips off and separate the entire thing. are you replacing the ac fan or the heater fan?

Thanks Ramjet for the warning about the evaporator pipes. I'm replacing the heater fan. Some previous threads refer to a vacuum controlled heater valve (water tap I assume) but can't see any reference to it in my factory workshop manual - do you know anything about this?
