Will a Disco 1 300 TDI R380 fit a Defender 300TDI.
Do you just change the gear selector?
Thanks

Does anyone know if a Disco r380 will fit a Defender, if so what has to be changed? (Both300TDI)
Thanks

Oh, I thought the question is valid in the Disco and Def areas.
Sorry

AFAIK changing selectors is a big job, so most just get the correct box.

To change the selector top, you have to dismantle the whole box which requires special tools.
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
When confronted with a R380 gearbox, does reading the boxes serial number give you the type of vehicle it was designed for?
.
Defender vs Disco R380s are obviously different. The shifter is in the middle of the box on a defender and in a rear extension housing on the disco.
V8 vs Tdi is fairly easy to spot as well. Bolt pattern and input shaft (spigot bush section) are different diameter.
