Auto trans temp sensor for monitoring

I want to install a temperature monitor, maybe the Madman EMS and include my auto transmission oil temperature. I know I could put the sender in the drain plug but it and certainly the wire would be exposed and most likely ripped out.

Any suggestions - e.g. drilling the sump on the rear/vertical side? Any idea what the standard sensor in the cooler is, perhaps I could hijack that for the EMS.

The experts recommend the sensor is positioned at the point where the fluid exits the gearbox to the oil cooler. This is the hottest point for the fluid and a T piece fitting is the answer.
