Thread: U Joint / Yoke phasing F & R prop shafts

There seems to be conflicting advice as to how to reassemble a prop shaft. Some folk recommend the yokes be out of phase by one or two splines while some of the text books suggest they need to be in phase to reduce so-called "excitation" states .
I recently had cause to reassemble the rear propshaft on my P38. I did so with the F&R yokes out of phase by a couple of splines. The vehicle now has a definite vibration through the "seat" on smooth roads at about 90-100kmh which was not there before. Now, while not exactly raising my personal excitation state said vibrations do have me concerned.
Would welcome advice!

That answered a question I would have had to ask soon myself. When I pulled the shafts on mine, I noticed how they were set - but I thought the front one was wrong - now I know it's not.
