    DISCO II BULLBAR! Suggestions?!

Hi guys! just got my first disco, second hand D2 pretty stock. I have to drive about 100km 3 days a week for uni, and i was just wondering what bars you would recommend? don't want an alloy bar, so steel is the choice. Main ones i've seen are the ARB bars and the TJM T15. Any other options? and anyone had issues with either of them? the ARB one seems a bit pricey but i spose it's worth it in the long run

    MCC another Chinese knock off

No wonder Australian innovation and manufacturing is going offshore.

Tap the metal on an ARB vs a Knock Off...
The ARB is a better grade if material.

Sorry people, but Chinese knock offs undermining Aussie manufacturing is one of my pet dislikes.

ARB is by far the best. I guess you get what you pay for.

I have had quite a few ARB bars on vehicles they are very nice and hold up in accidents, TJM and the others are coming along slowly...

ARB are quite ugly, they stick out too far and ruin your approach angle, BUT if i was going to hit anything that would be the bar i wanted on the front of my car. A D2 we have has one on it and it just looks too low, my D1 has an OEM Land Rover winch nudge bar, which i have never seen another of, if i am going towards an animal i will try and get it in the centre, atleast it protects the vitals. If i put a bar on our D2 it would be a TJM steel bar for sure, they look better (i used to like ARB but these grew on me), still offer a fair bit of protection and don't destroy your approach angle. The winch also fits in the space between the chassis rails which i wish i had.

Ring TRS in adelaide and see what they have on a wreck.

    Cheers

    Kev,

Those bars are as ugly as sin. I reckon bull bar designers must hate the Disco 2 with a passion.

LR jnr, I almost picked up what was claimed to be a D2 version of winch tray/nudge bar just before x-mas. I discovered that one of the pics showed the part number - Disco 1 fitment of course.

The winch tray is STC50271, and the a-bar to suit is STC50171

This is the D2a version fitted to a Trek competition car

First Four do a copy of the STC50271 which looks like it should accommodate the factory protection bar.

    cheers

After 30 years using both ARB and TJM products I would have to say that you wouldn't go far wrong with either brand and it will come down to personal preference in the end.

I don't think that TJM do a new bar any more as I was looking on their site the other day for one and there were none listed for a D2. A new ARB bar will be around $2.5K. Both should be available from any Land Rover wrecker second hand.
