TD5 Injector Seals - are mine leaking?

HI all, checked the oil in my 2003 D2a TD5 yesterday and it is about 10mm overfull. I did an oil change 3,000kms ago and I am certain I didn't overfill it. I also note the leak at the rear sump gasket area seems to have got a lot worse very quickly. The oil doesnt really smell of diesel, hard to say for sure.
Disco has done 308,000kms without a problem, have owned it since new and always well serviced, no overheating etc (the Nanocom warned me when the radiator was on the way out).

I will keep a close eye on it over the next week or so and check it each day.

I hate to say it but it does seem like leaking seals doesn't it.

    Regards Gordo

G'day Gaudough, somewhere on the forum Blknight posted a blotting paper test, to find out if there is diesel in the oil. Basically it went like this, if I recall correctly. Take some blotting paper (or similar) and rest it at about 45deg. angle, dribble a few drops of your sump oil off your dipstick onto the blotting paper. Wait a while, (I can't remember how long) if there is diesel present, it should seperate from the oil. The diesel will run uphill as it is less viscous and the blotting paper absorbs it more readily.
I hope I have done justice to Daves original post, that is how I remember it anyway.

    Cheers, Mick.

Ah, a subject I know all too well. I had this problem for the better part of 2 years. I replace an injector after a test showed it was leaking. The problem persisted. Tested injectors again, no fault found, problem persisted. Put a new AMC head on it, problem persists. Fitted 5 new genuine injectors, seals and washers problem solved. Cost a fortune but happy now.

with the engine warmed up wipe down the area around the injectors under the rocker cover and then restart the engine, you'll notice diesel coming down the fresh oil.

or if your out ipswich way, drop on over, looks like I'll be spanner swinging again this weekend.
