    Discovery 2 SRS Warning Light

The SRS warning light on my 2001 Discovery does not go off after 4 seconds as it should.

Apart from a possible electrical malfunction what is this likely to signify?

Should I seek assistance from a mechanic or auto electrician?

    Thanks

I've had that. It was a loose connection under the front seat.
    Cheers

Seconded, would come on every now and again when the seat was adjusted. Just made sure ignition was off and disconnected/connected switches underneath a few times to ensure good connection.

A scan on the system will pinpoint the problem area, usually picking up one of four of the most popular fault areas.

    1) Driver's side air bag continuity , usually the clock spring device under the steering wheel has failed causing a loss of continuity to driver's side SRS explosive unit.

    2) The passenger's side air bag SRS explosive unit continuity has been lost. (Plug in connector at the underside??)

3/4) Loss of continuity to either side seat belt pre-tensioner, i.e the yellow wires mentioned by other forum contributers, going to the fixed buckle pre-tensioner device on the seat frame.

There others, like the main fuse has failed , but numbers one to four are the most prevalent faults.
Once you correct the fault area it will usually self cancel and the SRS wng light will go out once it has done a continuity check.

    Hope that helps
