    Help please

Hi everyone. Just got my first Discovery and i have no idea how to fix it. Hopeing someone could give me some advise. It is a 1996 petrol/gas v8. It was passed to me by my father. He thinks one of the welch plugs let go letting all the water out of the motor. The car was swithched off straight away. As i said i hhave no idea about this car. Is this possible and if it is how easy is it to fix. Thanks.

It might help to explain what is wrong with it now - does it just need a welch plug and coolant refill or has that been done and it no go ?

    What are the symptoms?

    Hi Simon,
    try these links below -

    ERC256 3.5 V8 BLOCK CORE PLUG | Forward Control 2a,2b: Engine | shop | www.lrseries.com | L. R. Series

    602152 CORE PLUG | Discovery 1 1989-1998: Engine: Cooling | shop | www.lrseries.com | L. R. Series

Dont know whether the 3.5 and 3.9 l V8 would have the same size??
But from memory use brass instead of aluminuim...? Possibly the other way around, but will give you a starting point.
Try ringing a Landrover parts shop near you, they should be able to help you out, or alternatively you could call an engine reconditioning/engineering place, they should also have core plugs available.

Good luck and happy Disco ownership!!
