    Disco towbar question?

Gday can anyone tell me if a hayman reece towbar off a 98 series 1 disco will fit a 01 series 2 disco. My 01 has a standard LR 3500kg bar and I can get a hayman reece one off a 98. Any help welcome.
    thanks

Thats on D3's and D4's and RRS's, they have the fancy taper lock ****** thing, they tend to wear and then... fall out... so much for a taper lock, if they really locked there would be no movement at all, so no way of wearing...

Gday I want to use HR level ride bars for towing my caravan and I remember something on here from when I had my last D2 that they are not designed for the upforce of the level ride bars. Basically breaking the hitch. I cant remember the exact details but I think it was something along those lines. The HR towbar is better/stronger from what I'm led to believe. Personally I cant see how the LR bar would be a problem as its rated pretty high/ 3500kg and I think 250kg on the ball. Just worried and did'nt want to risk it. I have done a lot of research on this and a melb LR dealer said using a weight distribution hitch would be fine on a D2 that has SLS and standard T/bar, that it was the D3 that has/had the problem but another LR specialist said be careful doing it on a D2 and another said dont use it you should'nt need to with SLS and said that the standard LR bar should be fine. I got told your van must be packed wrong. Well I have been towing vans for over 20 years and I know how to pack one and besides there isnt much in the van at the moment and it tows terrible. It towed terrible behind the cruiser I had too and the use of a WDH fixed it on that vehicle so this is why I'm keen to use one on this D2.
Sorry for lengthy reply just trying to explain my reasons.

    Fair enough

Though i would be another one to subscribe to the unbalanced trailer theory, although you can't do anything about it now, it's how the van was designed.

We've been towing car trailers for ages with coil sprung Discoverys and Range Rovers, and when loaded correctly they tow beautifully without any form of assistance, no need for an LDH if the download is right, thats what an LDh achieves anyway, so if you need it you need it.

Not saying don't get a Hayman Reese towbar, they are bloody solid things, but i think the LR one would be fine, i know blokes that have LDH's set up on falcons with those 20mm bolt on towbars, never had a problem

    Each to their own

Yeah it could be an original design fault as the previous van owner towed with a late model paj and said it was a bit ordinary (Swaying) without WDH. I have read a lot of conflicting info on the standard LR towbar but I'm thinking If down the track the opertunity comes up to get one then I will but for the moment I might give the LR one a go.

    Thanks
