You will probalby need to bolt the inlet manifold and injectors off the 3.5 on to the 3.9 and use all the RR electrics. Costs one inlet manifold gasket.
Hi All,
The 3.5 in my 89 classic seems to be at the stage I would call not economically repairable. I have found a few 3.9s lying around and it looks like i will have to go that way, most posts seem to say this is just a bolt in but i cannot seem to find any comments on the MAF / AFM. the 3.9 had the 3AM the 3.5 had the 2AM, has any body done this change and remember if it needed a different MAF?
thanks

thanks for the replies guys Seems like everyone is on the same page, just clarify though, would this mean that the fuel and air flow would be limited? would this affect performance or would it be such a small difference it would not matter?
You will gain torque but possibly lose a bit of the top end. After all its only 10% capacity increase. If you go the whole hog it means swapping the ECU and anything else off the 3.9 system. I fitted a 4.2 to a stock 3.5 RR system and the owner loves it but is not a rev head.
