    Hi Steve

I am wondering if the difference, and why they used the 90 fronts is the weight potential of the 6X6 over the standard 110. (Knowing that grunts, don't really care how much they fit into the back)

dont worry about the grunts, us RAEME dudes would have had the heaviest 6x6 going around

Here's a bit of info I have about these brakes. I have them on both my Countys and they are excellent having about twice the pad area of the Def.
Stub.................FRC8540 (same as drum brake one)
Hub..................AYG7350 (different to front one which is FRC6139)
    Calipers.............RTC4999 (L) and RTC4998 (R)
    Bracket.............AYG7308 (both left and right)
Rotor................FRC7329 (same as front on County/Perentie)
I wouldn't hesitate to use the Britpart caliper, as said it,s possibly from the same production line.
I have a spare mounting bracket (AYG7308 here if anyone wants to use to get some made up.) You can use the original brake lines by remoulding them to fit the disc calipers - dont even price new ones unless you are sitting down. The Perentie uses a PBR master cylinder with inbuilt proportioning valve (same as Holdens and Fords about 76-80 vintage)which is the same on drum and disc models whereas the civvy ones have a Girling MC with a proportioning valve mounted on the drivers footwell. The hub is the hard bit to obtain but hopefully one day ADF will sell some of their parts.
    Cheers......Brian

How did I miss that one, I was studying Perentie RPS, EMEI and Defender parts manuals and was sure I had it sorted. Must have got stuck on the rotor and not the hub assembly.

Do you know what the differences between the AYG7531 assembly and the FRC6139 assembly are?

Could a RRc or disco 1 hub be used as an alternative? (Even if they have to be machined?)

Does the master cylinder have a true proportioning valve or is it one of the brake imbalance switches. Reason I was seriously considering fitting a proportioning/load sensing valve in the rear suspension system.

I was wondering how you had planned to mount the rotor to the standard county style rear hubs, as they have no where to bolt to, i guess that AYG7531 answered the question. I guess it would also put a different offset on the rotor as when i lined the some of the other hubs up that already had rotors attached(d1 and defender fronts) as well as the same hubs with defender rear rotors none of it came close to matching where the centre of the caliper would have sat.

I was looking at using County front hubs on the rear and thought the numbers worked but now realised I was overtired and missed the number difference. Also have early RRc and D1 rear hubs to try. But it would be better if I could simply find out what the dimensions of the AYG7350 casting are.

There is also the option of using the FTC3306 calliper bracket used on the early Defender's with rear disk brakes (about half the cost of AYG7308) but that means changing a bunch of other things including the axle half-shafts.

Just had a gecko at the hub I have it is a lot different to the front one. There is a pic of the two in this thread" Perentie 6X6 hub -fit anything else-now with pics" from Isuzurover. Wish I knew how to post links. Do a search on that and you will see how diffferent they are. Also note that the correct part number is AYG7305 (you can see it on the hub pictured) so I guess the RFSV RPS has the number wrong. I have checked one of mine and it definitely is AYG7305. As you will see the offset is different to any other LR hub I have seen so don't know if you can use anything else. The RPS shows a proper proportioning valve in the PBR MC so I assume that's what it is. Hope that helps.

The engineering drawing I have (not the RPS), has the hub as AYG7350 and the assembly with studs fitted AYG7351

But I will also note down your number.

The 6X6 hub (black) is very long, has anyone compared it to a drum brake rear hub or disk brake bub off the various Disco 1 and RRc hubs?

Any chance of some piccys of your trials?

    The important issues I guess:
    • The position of the wheel face in relation to the stub axle?
    • The overall length of the hub?
    • The alignment of the rotor mounting face on the hub?
Even if the Defender rotors don't fit, there may be an alternative we can get from DBA undrilled.
