    Pirelli Scorpion Mud Terrain

    Hello!

Does anyone have any knowledge/experience of the Pirelli Scorpion Mud Terrain tyres?

I can get them for a very good price but cannot find sweet FA about them on the internet. I would love to hear some first hand experience?

    i am looking at 235 85 16's for a SWB IIA.

    Cheers,

    Sam

I have seen/read 2 tyre comparison tests in Australian 4WD magazines and in both cases they were rated very highly, the only categories they came second in was a puncture test which involved a hydraulic ram pushing a pointed bar through the tread, prices were reasonable and they rated the best tyre in mud and off-road conditions while still being good on-road, regards Frank.

The question isn't what are they worth, the question is if you have used them are they any good?
    So, any experience?
They are intended for Sam and my Series 2As.

I haven't used them personally, but Dave ie Blknght had access to them prior to the Cape Trip in 09 and at least one car completed the trip with them, also a friend had them on a Pajero and would run them again if he was able to get them, he rates them over the km2 which he now has.

    Sam,
I grabbed a pair through Dave (Blknight) a few years back in 235/85R16 flavour.

Ran them on the fender until they were no longer useful tread (legal but useless)

Terrible "mileage" when directly compared with my usual Bridgestone Muds.

Did what they needed to do but were flogged in about 25,000km - the Bridgies give me 60-80,000km.

No issues with balance or punctures. They were a good price but not a third of the price of Bridgies to make them economical...

Note that I dont really drive much bitumen so things like wet road holding and braking performance etc etc are non factors. Tyres for me need to have grip in the slop, ride well at low pressures (25ish) and not get punctures.

    Hope this helps.
