I had to replace my D2 starter battery at short notice in Adelaide en route from Perth to Tassie. Got a 9X-3404 for $230 ex Cat warehouse https://commerce.cat.com/en/catcorp/9X-3404 . Its a big fella and I'm not sure what I'll do if I ever have to get it out because came with no lowering ropes and its a tight fit. The posts on mine do not match the picture but are std for D2a requirements. Specs say 950 CCA and 100 Ah.
The guy did look for the 250-0476 recommended by others here and which they had in stock, but it had very small posts and they had no adapters and didn't have time to fluff around.

Cat batteries sound good, an alternative might be what was in the 81 RRC that I bought for the body some years ago.

It's a Willow low maintenance calcium battery (I thought it was a Yuasa for awhile). Has plugs to top up water. Gotta be 10 years old now, been flattened heaps and can still start a 350 effortlessly after sitting for a month +. Sits alongside an Exide in a dual battery setup.

Maybe one out of the box, I dunno. I'd buy another tomorrow.

Made in Shepparton in Vic apparently. No personal connections. No idea of price.
