    Defender TD5 factory alarm issues

Here is the problem...when I hit a bump (pothole speed bump etc) at a good speed the four way flashers start going off.

I originally thought this was an electrical issue, but when the four way flashers go off, the only way to turn them off is to turn off the 90. It needs to be again powered on and off before the alarm/central locking functions can work. I have the factory alarm.

I have come to the conclusion that the alarm is being set off while I am driving, but for some reason the horn does not sound.

Is there a sensor that is supposed to be set off when the Defender is being towed? Does anyone know where it is? I looked through the shop manual but there is nothing outlining clearly which sensor goes with what feature of the alarm.

It would make sense that the sensor is faulty or needs to be adjusted.

Also, when the tire pressure was adjusted to 32psi and 38psi, this did not happen as frequently.

    Help please!

There is a 'crash sensor' on my Disco 1, in the engine bay against the firewall, which does the same thing on very bumpy roads. Would presume it is the same thing on your Defender.

It can be reset by pushing a button, but sounds like yours is knackered....

We drove most of the Birdsville track with flashers going as we got sick of stopping, turning off the car to reset the hazard lights and taking off again!

It also unlocks the car in the event of an accident.

Is the crash sensor on the firewall? I read the below link, let me know what you guys think.

Defender TD5 Crash System - Defender Forum - LR4x4 - The Land Rover Forum

    Specifically:

"the bit that makes the hazards come on after a hard bump is in the 10as unit not the crash switch, had a slight off last night in my challenge buggy & the hazards wouldnt stop flashing no matter what i did, i have no flasher relays & no crash switch, traced it back to the 10As & as my ecu has the immob removed ive since junked the 10as & no hazards flashing now"

Also found this...seems to be spot on.

Disco dans - 4x4 Community Forum

    As described in a disco:

"OK, I have solved the G-sensor mistery!

The G-sensor is hidden inside the alarm unit located underneath the glove box.
The unit is a green plastic box with two plugs, a green and a grey plug.
Remember to disconnect the battery before unplugging the unit.

The sensor is in the top left hand side of the PCB, if the plugs are to the bottom.("140" is written in blue on the sensor of my unit)

I cut the track, from the sensor to the IC, just to the right of the sensor.

I tested the system before and after the MOD, by tapping the unit with a screwdriver.

MOD works fine, no more annoying flasher on dirt roads.

I took some pics, but need help in posting them......"

What do you guys think? I have no problem switching out the crash sensor on the firewall (I actually already located one), but I'm not sure I want to disconnect parts of the alarm system.
