the update
Right due to the nature of my work, I left the disco at the mechanic with instructions for the minister of finance to investigate. Got home after about 14 days. Issue one, the dead engine was the idler pulley (now replaced) and another couple little odds and sods. All up repair bill including 200k service was a little over a grand. That got the old girl going, but she is still gutless compared to before, so I suspect two disconnected faults. Now I will be investigating the cat ( shaking the exhaust), then checking the turbo pipes. Last resort will be to go to a turbo specialist.....
