snorkle swap
Is it possible, without too much difficulty to put a snorkle from a 1995 disco onto a Range rover classic-- I do have a disco wreck with a snorkle and a RRC without a snorkle.
As mentioned in another thread the RRC will get a Isuzu 4BD1T or a 4BE1T or similar.

snorkle swap
The D1 has a different bonnet/guard set up from the RR so this makes the job hard, if not impossible.
You can fit the D1 front panels to the RR if you really want to use the snorkel.

I thought the answer was there - and that a No.

Why an Isuzu? I did that to a 1984 RR ( actually Mitsubishi 3.3L TI and only because I got the motor, in pieces, for a bottle Jack Daniels)these motors heavy; double the weight of the alloy V8. They change the character of the car, particularly if you already have bullbar/winch/dual batteries, etc up front., yes, even with heavier springs that are required, it changes to a truck.
You can get more power relatively easily and a more usable rev range from a 300 TDI and much easier to fit as using "std" parts. I did this with a 1993RRC and yes, kept the auto as best way to go with small turbo diesels-- don't have a turbo lag due to the torque converter.
Or ultimately, TD5, chipped, and its electronic auto- I did/still have this in a 1994 soft dash LSE.
Yes, its a lot of mucking around, but final product is great. LOTS power, up to about 100kph similar 4.6 V8. and little or no smoke! 10l/100km reliably.
In answer to snorkels,
in all 3 above diesels, I've made my own with 75mm stainless tube and a generic plast scoop from one of the 4 x 4 shops- 2 types available, the big ugly upright "Toyota look"one and a neater smaller off centre one- looks the part and fits well to roofline.
Of course thers a bit of juggling under bonnet with hoses/aircleaners.
The disco one I think doesn't allow for use of the 2nd battery space in Classic(?)
Difficult, and not exactly practical.
Make up a new one from some stainless tube as don says.
Cheaper, easier and most likely alot better.

To answer your question "Why the Isuzu" look at all those pages in the Isuzu section. http://www.aulro.com/afvb/isuzu-land...iasts-section/
I have yet to find the page that says "Putting the Isuzu into my Land Rover was the worst discission I have made." [If such a thread or post exists do please give me the link.]
You said, "Or ultimately the TD5." We do not want hassles with electronics, so a TD5 isdefinately out of the race. We drive a TDI because it has no electronics that will break down.
Some years ago there was a thread that compared the Isuzu to the TDI. Reading that thread did make me think the Isuzu would be a great choice. If I could find it I would re-read this thread, but do not hope to find it again.
