With compliments like thatyour on the crissy card list
Mmm but the news is not good , After all the belts and tensioners replaced and checking the timing how many times ive lost count , It appears to have a bent vavle BUT no bent push rods or rockersrunning like a dog and smoke which could be residue from the belt going so the head is coming off !We can call that periodic maintenance to change the head gasket justin just for you mate
Well the head is off . No visible bent valves but hair line cracks between the valves on 2 and 3 and and near injector on 3 and 2 slight cracks running out from glow plugs 2 and 3 .
Now im guessing these are not into the water gallerys as they were all carboned up and hard to belive it all happened when the belt went.
So why was it running like a dog when id checked and checked several times the timing even had a mate check it to confirm i was right.
Oh and jc The head gasket did have very slight signs of leakage behind # 4 but not totaly gone still had plenty of life left in it![]()
Well one week latter plus a new head thanks to Turners in the UK and a update timing belt kit and it lives , The motor sounds sweet and completely different and very responsive , Im very happy with the end result![]()
Very interested to know what the head set you back, sent to your door of course? I'm planning to behead mine next year and should I find corrosion or cracks I'll probably go new. A new head complete is available at my local Landy shop for $1100, not too bad. But since they're importing it anyway it got me thinking...
Around $860 earlier this year from turners. that was for the Flowed head. Standard head is a bit cheaper. Turnaround between ordering and at your door is approx 5-6 days.
Cheers
Luke
Maybe the belt tensioner failed as the belt was done up to tight previously. Landrover revised the belt tension down to 11nm so hopefully you did it up with the new tension?
