Question Td5 won't start after injector seals replaced?

Hi, I have just replaced seals on injectors and now it won't start. I have purged 8 times (ign on and pump accelerator 5 times quick). can hear it pumping/priming fuel and engine check light is on, then goes off again after 5 cycles. I put injectors back in original holes.

Don't have workshop manual so are there any tips to bleeding after injector removal, thought purge was all that was needed.

    But apparently not.

Also if someone can tell me the torque settings, I used what was specified on

    www.discovery2.co.uk

The bolts for rocker gear either stretched or it damaged the head threads using 24 ft/lbs they didn't nip up quickly.

All in all not a great day! appreciate some helpful tips

did you correctly seat the injector harness plug in the head and then the connector to that from underneath the head?

yes you can laugh, it got me on one.

Sounds like you have started fuel the system bleed but not finished.

Had the same thing the other day on a TD5 I was playing on for a member.
    Solution....
Key on and listen for pump to slow(goes quieter), key off.
    repeat X 3 or 4.
Key on, full throtle, crank, as it fires slowly lift your foot of the throtle.
    Cheers, Kyle

Hi, I did do a double check on the harness connection so think that is ok, I will give the key on key off priming a go tomorrow with foot down and see if that gets it going. Thanks Alien and Blknight.

MUST have a good battery for this procedure too. The check engine lamp will illuminate during extended cranking to signify a noisy cranking signal, usually from a weak battery. Charge it FULLY before this and follow aliens advice RE crank with foot flat until it starts to pick up 1 cyl at a a time. Remember to give the starter a rest too.

usually it only takes 2 goes for the td% to start trying to go.

If I dont get it trying by the second set of cranking I hook up jumper leads to another vehicle at high idle (or a big jump pack)

    Smile She runs again

Finally got her fired up, weak battery wasn't helping, I jumped it off the ever reliable 84 Patrol.

Thanks very much for all the helpful ideas. I will know all the steps for next time.

It sure is a relief to have the help of the people on this forum especially when I live 300 k's from the nearest Landy workshop.

    Cheers Jo
