    300tdi Turbo options

300tdi Deefa looks like it maybe heading for a new turbo. What are the options in boosting power with a bigger turbo unit that can be bolted inplace rather than going down the expensive route of different turbo units, manifolds and new pipes?

Or should we just replace with standard T25-04? If so - what are the options for OEM and say the cheaper Chinese versions?

I read on another forum that it is possible to use a GT 2056 in place of the original unit?? " Why would you spend time and money to put a VNT on a Tdi when you can fit a GT2056 (model 751578-2) and have the thing start making boost earlier than a stocker, and generate more airflow and boost pressure than your engine knows what to do with, and a nice simple flapper wastegate that will continue to work even when your EGT's are so high your engine is about to go pop. Search and you'll find them all day long for under $800... VNT is just a lot more stuff to go wrong. A (new) GT2056 will outlast your engine. Just make sure you fit a nice full-width intercooler to make use of all that boost! oh, and stay well away from China turbo's... " Has anyone tried this turbo??

Hi we just installed a duel core intercooler from these guys much cheaper than a new turbo and easy to fit makes a big difference to the power and it starts to spool at much lower revs. Ours is a300 tdi disco

PS: delivery was less than 7 days and about 2 hrs to install

Lots of posts on here about turbo's if you search, whatever turbo you intend to fit you will need a custom manifold as the 300tdi manifold has the turbo exhaust housing cast integral to it .

As loanrangie says, the T250-04 is your only option without changing manifolds. I recommend seriously considering a VNT. I had a 110 cab chassis with the T250-04 and mild injector pump tuning and I now have a 130 dual cab with an Allisport VNT kit. Despite the dual cab being a fair bit heavier it is sooooo much quicker and more driveable than the 110. The kit cost me a touch over $2000 delivered, and I added a locally sourced uprated intercooler that fits in the standard position.

    Here's the thread on it:
    Garrett GT28R on 300Tdi

Also, here's Jock the Rock's brilliant thread on the subject:
VNT Turbo and Performance Mods - 300 Tdi

There are a few places that do the kit. To be brutally honest, Allisport's price was very good, but it was like pulling teeth trying to get them to take my money and send the kit. Do some searches, and send some email enquiries. Once you have VNT you won't look back (well, only to see weeping Prado and Patrol drivers in your mirors ).

Turbo Technics in the UK make a bolt on VNT for the 300Tdi that has a cast centre-2/3 cylinder exhaust manifold/turbine housing just like the OE Garrett that you fit your # 1 & 4 exhaust manifold into, but I think it might only be available through BAS in the UK.

Ok a bit of a blast from the past but im looking at turbo manifolds for TDI what options are out there i have a 200TDI manifold lined up from another member and i will use it and an adaptor to fit the IHI VVT i got which is from a 4JJ1-T npr isuzu truck.

How well do the VVT turbos from the UK go with a full size FMIC ? im looking at fitting a cooler similar to the larger allisport job but it is a tad thicker id say i will have to mod my grill but thats a no brainer

I have also heard that the 300TDI was brought into the country DE tuned and that the spill timing is set at a retarded setting for emission and power requirements for them to be brought into the country

How hard is it to set the spill timing on a TDI pump and what other mods are good to do other than the diaphragm twist, spring pre load and rest position ?
