    Advice sought Td5 injector

Am getting a leaking head gasket problem fixed at the moment. The front cylinder would have been exposed to coolant for a considerable time while we looked for an external leak.

Should I consider replacing the injector? From reading various posts they are considered to be very robust provided they are looked after.

    thanks in advance.

If it was running OK without cylinder balance issues when it was pulled down I wouldn't replace it.
If you put it back and there are balance issues its not a big job to put a new one in if required.
Also gives you time to source one from the UK at a better price

Its probably costing you enough as it is

thanks for that. despite the coolant loss the engine ran sweet as up until the big clunk. Not too expensive at GBP 175. Yes it is quite a lot of $$ but hopefully with the investment I'll get a lot more years out of the car which I love driving.

By BIG CLUNK I hope you don't mean a hydraulic lock. I would pay VERY close attention to piston heights when the head is off, bent conrods are very easy to come by when an incompressible substance and a small space are involved....

    Hi Justin,

yes it did hydraulic lock. Am getting the bottom end checked. The piston heights check out ok but on advice from here will get the bearing looked at as well.

    cheers
