On a 300TDI they are 1/2", not sure what vehicle you have but you can easily put a measure over one of the pipes to find out. If you go to Enzed or a similar hose company, you can get brass barbs that can be silver soldered to the pipes - none that actually fit exactly, but something close that can easily be drilled to the ID that you need over the metal pipes. The high temp pneumatic hose is a good option too.

    I'm getting one of these--
    PWR USA INC
    (from OZ PWR)
    around 150 delivered,,

am slightly concerned about placement,, I cant get around if you put it behind the grill it MUST remove airflow from the rad,,
I'd be really happy to be told otherwise---

I think on the D1 they are M20 x 1.5, we often use 'push lock' barbed fittings which work fine,

See the post from Cattledog for details of the push-on's and pipe diameters etc .... http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...cooler-d1.html

I did the same on my D1.

    Cheers

I fitted one of these a year ago as a replacement for the stock 3 pass unit on the TDI. Works out about 3 times the front surface area of the original, but with that they are a lot thinner and don't restrict airflow. Made no difference to engine temperature at all but the trans is better off with the towing I do. The only difference to mine was to get the one with 1/2" barbs, saved buying fittings at that end of the pipes, have had no pressure or leaking issues.
