Definately a selector problem there Clive. I have a box of selector bits'n'pieces if your repairer has problems finding parts. The syncro might be a seperate issue.
Cheers,
David
Hi
Looking for tips and pointers as to the cause of my gearbox woes in my LT85/V8 County
I am having problems shifting the LT85 into first at idle, well at least some times. The lever either goes into the gate and there is no drive, or the gate is locked and the lever will not move go in at all.
When the engine is off the lever sometimes will not go into any gate.
Prior to this it sometimes would, again at times, go into first but not engage properly until it the lever was firmly pressed into first. Synro into 1st to 2nd and back was ordinary as well.
It really does not feel like a clutch problem with all working fine - newish MC & slave and no other issues. That said did have to tow a LWB patrol out a track, but the problems didn't start straight away after that.
The gearbox was rebuilt 12 months ago - and I'll be seeing them tomorrow - still interested in ideas/opinions.
Thanks
Clive

That's pretty much what I thought. Drove it out of the aprking bay today and was totally normal, betcha it wont stay that wya.

dont discount the clutch drag factor coupled with a bearing failure.
but either way
clutch and bearings, selectors gone, dentents sticking your pretty much up for a box pull to sort it

Hi Clive, I have had what I think is the same problem. What I have is a worn selector fork, they get to the point where you cannot select 1st or 2nd. I got a new one, ground it down a little the built it back up with nickel bronze. Dad had the same issue in his county and we did the same thing. It can be fixed in the vehicle although the transfer and 5th extention housing has to come off to get the selector shafts out. Is it the split case version??
