Far better is to get a linisher and use medium Scotchbrite (green) belts. You can't have too many linishers in your workshop. Once you are familiar with their myriad uses you hardly ever use a rock except to maybe touch up a drill or a turning tool.
I know this is off topic , BUT does anybody know who stocks "Canning" wire brushe for a bench grinder
I am after a soft and long wire type for polishing, NOT rust removal

You don`t know what i want to polish
Well, don't keep us in suspense, what are they to be used on?

Basically mate, it has got nothing to do with you what i am polishing
ALL I wanted to know was, Who stocked Canning wheels
I've got to admit, first I had to google it...
Blackwoods have what you appear to be after but dont call it a canning wheel.
Now Im curious as to if you're planning on texturing before polishing or if your going for polishing and what it is....

Basically mate it is this
I am bluing shotgun barrels and I need a soft wheel to polish of the rust between applications
I am pretty sure I looked at Blackwoods early in the piece, all too stiff
I need a wheel with wire about .75mm thich thats about 30thou
Could you send me a link to look at the blackwoods thing??
I have got a mate in tthe UK who is trying as well
He even asked the gun bloke from Antiques roadshow about it, NFG
Cheers Pete
PS Cannings are the peole that make them
right, with you now so you want a brushing wheel...
I wouldn't be using a full size bench grinding wheel for it Id be going with the ones that mount in a drill and then using a hand held drill but Brushes | Hand Brushes | Wire wheels | Vertex Wheels is most likely to be your best bet if you're not in a hurry.
