fixing a cracked center console storage bin

I finally got around to fixing my centre console storage bin where it bolts to the trans tunnel. Eventually the attaching holes on the centre console storage box split, crack and you end up with a loose rattle creaky console.
I found a neat way of fixing it and strengthening at the same time.
Firstly underneath I taped up the hole and cracks with masking tape. Then Laid it horizontally and level.
Next mixed up some fibre glass resin and catalyst and poured it carefully into the storage bin to a level of approx 6 ml. The next day after it had set I re drilled the screw holes and bolted it back into place.
I now has a rigid bottom and is firmly attached once more. During catalyst the resin will create heat and you may find a very minor indentation on the compartment walls at the resin level.
Will post a pic when I get the camera out.
It provides a strong repair as the resin also flows into the damaged screw holes opposed to simply putting a tin plate on would not repair the screw holes

    Thanks Mario,
Have the same problem and was going to do the Metal/Alloy plate thing, but now I think I will go the Fibreglass way.

    Cheers
    Luke.
    PS: Merry Christmas.
