Crikey !! I didn't expect it this soon, I thought I'd be waiting a couple of weeks at least. You're only half an hour South of me so I'd expect similiar delivery times.:)

Yes, I will be changing the P gasket. The 'original' was just a soggy piece of paper which I found a bit strange as I expected something a bit more substantial. Don't know if it comes with the gasket kit, I'll wait and see.

Pulled the timing cover off and the timing belt is a mess, old style set up with the belt 'jumped' foreward and carved up by the idler/tensioner flange, bottom seal weeping as well.

I'm having trouble getting the injector out of No.2. The others I just 'wiggled' and turned and with a bit of effort out they came but No.2 is stuck fast. I managed to unscrew the injector 'case' by turning it anti clockwise (in hindsight not a good idea), so now I have a disassembled injector with the lower 'case' stuck in the head.:(

What's the recommended method here ? Plenty of heat and try again ?, Cut up the old head to remove ? or abandon the injector and buy a new one ?

Interesting that Turners advertise new Bosch injectors cheaper than reconditioned original ones. Does this mean that reco old ones are better than new Bosch ones ? :confused:

hard to say on the injector quality, but at a guess, no. Id say that to buy the parts (bosch have to make profit) and then the labour, its just going to add up quick compared to 1 complete unit....plus companies are more interested in remover and replace rather than repair...

What Serg said plus the main body is crimped together and apparently not many shops can test the second stage crack pressure.

Another happy Turner's customer,whilst you are spending the money invest in a low coolant/temperature alarm for peace of mind.

I had a brand new 200tdi head off Turners earlier this year, 1 of 2 that had been 'discovered', I had them gasflow it, what with a fueling adjustment and one of JC's intercoolers, well, it goes like stink, big hills don't seem to be too much of a problem anymore.
It took 4 days to get to Auckland, then another 5 to clear customs plus $$$$.:(.
Guess I have to keep the truck now to get the value out of it. What a hardship:D

Since your doing the top end i would also drop the sump and do the mains and bigend shells at the same time[with the engine still in the car], that will cost you another $100ish, remember your putting a brand new top end on an older bottom end?? jusy my 2c

No problem dropping the sump and checking the big ends and mains, I've red and green plastigauge somewhere, but then do I remove the pistons and check the rings/bores? Could also change those pesky little T seals as well.

The problem is where do I start and where do I finish. Each job is relatively simple but it all adds up in time, effort and $. :confused: Good suggestion though a new head won't increase the load on the bottom end.

I'm going to try a bit of heat on the head today to see if I can remove the injector in No.2. :)

I guess you have to ask where do you want to take this vehicle and how long do you want to keep it in order to know when to stop. If you want it for the next 5 years and plan to go inland then I'd do the bearings. With a happy new head, you won't be driving it any less enthusiastically. You can see where I'm going with this. :D

I think big ends cost me about $50.00 12 months ago off Roverloards no sump gasket needed , For peace and mind id do it depending on ks;)

DeanoH if you have no luck removing that injector, I have my old set of good working injectors if you like. PM and we can solve the price issue.
