    Td5 fixed! :)

just reading offtracks great thread about de bricking and saw the screen of default values, and thought i'd better mention this.
last week, had a d2 with an interesting fault, massive lag, like disconnected turbo hose lag, then whoosh, off we go....very annoying and quite dangerous with a tandem nag trailer hanging off the back trying to enter the freeway has a trs msb ecu upgrade, and is auto.

maf numbers are great, 55 kg/hr at idle, 480+ loaded, manifold pressures fine, sees 230kpa (abs) and has no overboost etc.

noticed the inlet air temp was erratic after a short drive, then stayed at 120 deg C...

fault codes showed no issues apart from when i disconnected the aap sensor while checking air filter etc. i would've thought an inlet temp code would've been seen...

the map sensor changed out for my test unit and vehicle back to its best performance again. new one in now.

also had a dead short for passenger front window, eventually found the harness adjacent to the bcu was un supported and had been partially hacksawed through by the lh dashboard support bracket.....

anyway, all is good again back to dragging a couple of walking / galloping pet food containers about to and from shows....

Thanks JC. I had an interesting one last year with a TD5 Auto. On the stall test it would only go to 2000RPM. Swapped out the waste gate solenoid and actuator with no change. Eventually after consulting RAVE again I tracked the problem down to the MAP sensor - found that a wire from the MAP sensor to the ECU was broken (cut). You get the same lack of power effect if you disconnect the MAP sensor.

certainly, this one was showing a good manifold pressure, but it was the temp circuit that had failed. pretty rare ,as i have so far only seen a few with dead pressure circuits before.
