i have an oil leak have replaced tappet cover gasket still returns and appers at the bottom of the bell housing removed bolts looks good. any ideas?
hopfully not the rearmain.
please see the attached pic.
its oil all right. think it may the the sump this should be the cheapest to repalce, is there any tricks i should know before i do it my self or should i take this to LR to do?
Ok, personally I would leave it.It really doesn't look much. If you do take the sump off to try and fix it get a new oil pump bolt and change it, this is the reason I removed my sump as my td5 is a 2000 model and there may be problems with no loctite and loose bolts. If 2003 on then don't worry.
I used a genuine gasket too, removed the sump twice after to fix the leak with no luck, I suspect a rear main seal. It can wait until I convert to an auto box.
It's an easier way of checking if you have oil in the engine if it leaks
