There is a plug in the back of the head which weeps / leaks

although I would expect to see the oil path outside the housing if that was the case.

wack an expensive sealant on the camshaft cover gasket. The limiters control the tension. Be careful at the half moon at the back- only use a little.

Some aftermarket gaskets don't fit well and leak immediately. Genuine is the better option.
But some goop top and bottom will achieve the same result.

The plug Tombie refers to can be real pain to get at.

    Cheers

I'd be more worried if wasn't leaking oil! Could it be the rear main seal?

    Cheers,

Rear Main or Sump Gasket ????

If there is no tracking down the block it must be coming from down low

    Hello,

Mine does exactly the same, has done since I removed the sump to check the oil pump bolt. Removed sump to try and fix the leak but still leaks.

It could also be the fuel prv leaking, by the time it gets there it looks like oil. Give it a sniff

    Hello,

Ok, personally I would leave it.It really doesn't look much. If you do take the sump off to try and fix it get a new oil pump bolt and change it, this is the reason I removed my sump as my td5 is a 2000 model and there may be problems with no loctite and loose bolts. If 2003 on then don't worry.

I used a genuine gasket too, removed the sump twice after to fix the leak with no luck, I suspect a rear main seal. It can wait until I convert to an auto box.

It's an easier way of checking if you have oil in the engine if it leaks
