					Hello
I need to pick the clever brains here....I am installing a 3.5 V8 into a swb series 3 diesel. The v8 came out of a Rover SD1 with all sorts of computer boxes. I want to make the install as easy as possible, so much so that I am fitting carbs in place of the fuel injection, and would fit points distributor if I could find one, but I can`t, so I am stuck with the original electronic dizzy as it came out of the car. What do I need, or how do I wire up, the electronic dizzy to work with normal coil, that means without some complex electronic boxes and stuff? I am seriously electronically challanged......

					The electronic dizzy has a module on its outside. there are 2 leads coming out. One goes to the + side of the coil and the other to the - side of the coil. Make sure they are correct otherwise you stuff the amplifier module. The + is the lug on the extreme right side at the top of the module. The coil needs to be of low resistance-less than 1ohm if possible. Do not use a coil with inbuilt resistance on an electronic dizzy. You can mount a Bosch module, away from the dizzy, which is preferred for reliability, refer to article by other members re procedure . The coil needs a 12v supply to the + side from the main ignition switch . Refer to to electrical section in early RR '86 onwards manuals re 3.5 wiring. If you use the Bosch module make sure its a BIM024 and you may need to set the air gap in the dizzy to .005ins. Factory is .008-.014ins.

					As Jenks said, wiring an electronic dissy is dead easy. No computer control required. Rover V8 electronic dissys use mechanical and vacuum advance just like a points dissy. Unlike a points dissy they stay in tune for long periods of time and give good spark for cold starting. It's very important to use a coil rated for electronic ignition as points coils will work very poorly with this system.
