td5 starter motor removal -help
Hi,
I am trying to remove my starter motor in my 2002 TD5,
I have managed to remove two bolts from underneath, is there anything else holding it. it refuses to budge. I cannot get any movement on the starter motor, I expected it to move once I had the two bolts out! I must be missing something,
any help greatfully received

There is a nut between the starter body and the block. It's a bit of a pig to get onto. 15mm 3/8" drive socket with 6" extension is apparently the best option. I just managed with a 1/2" drive socket and 125mm wobble extension coming at it from the top.
cheers

OffTrack is bang on track! Yup, third fix hidden behind the starter and a p***k to get to! As he suggested, 3/8 sockets are the go! Changing the contacts are the easy bits!!

Hi Giles,
there is a 15 mm nut on the top next to block. I normally use a3/8 drive socket or a 1/4 drive socket to take out of the vehicle.

I did mine from underneath with a 3/8 socket set and 6" extension bar (the ones that allow a bit of movement of the socket so you don't need to be exactly straight in line with the nut) while I was in my pit. I suspect having a pit was a big help as I could reach over the starter and locate the nut easily.
Cheers,
Nova
